About Valencia Agnew, Ph.D., DBTC

img received my masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University, my doctorate degree from Walden University, and hold certification as a Dialectical Behavior Therapy therapist (DBTC) with training specific to adults, adolescents, and children. I have also completed Level 3 Practicum Training in the Gottman Method. I have practiced for 23 years. I am committed to excellence by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, and through continuing education to stay knowledgeable in up to date techniques, theories, and interventions.  My dedication, passion, extensive trainings, skills, and warm personality make me effective clinically, as a DBT coach, Enneagram & personal development coach, and business consultant.

In addition to my clinical experience, I present for multiple businesses and agencies on mental health topics as well as provide coaching and consulting at Agnew Advantage Consulting.  As a business coach, I help private practice owners build sustainable practices and enjoy work-life balance.  As a personal development coach, use psychological and behavioral insights to make recommendations for individuals striving to succeed in a specific life areas.

While I am a native of Grand Rapids, I have had extensive training in the Latin American culture. My education includes 4 years of college level classes as well as education at Ideal Escuela de Espanol in Cuernevaca (Mexico) studying both the language and the culture. I continue to improve my skills through ongoing education with a personal instructor and interpreter (who works with me during sessions as needed). I take pride in my ability to serve a diverse population of clients.

In addition, I am a part of the ministry team at my local assembly. I am actively involved in promoting both spiritual growth as well as emotional health and stability within my assembly and its affiliates.

One of the things I really enjoy is doing presentations in a variety of venues.  Visit my Speaker page if you are interested in learning more about me speaking for your event. In addition, I am committed to community education and outreach.  AFBHS is often found supporting the community and helping to dismatle the mental helath stigma. Call the office or visit my coaching and consultation site if you are interested in executive, business, or other coaching services.
