Samantha Klokkert, LMSW

karley I

received my bachelor's degree in social work from Hope College and my master's degree in social work from Grand Valley State University. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I have been in clinical practice for 2.5 years. I am also Spanish-speaking and I am deeply passionate about the ways in which my language ability allows me the opportunity to connect with more members of our community and provide increased access to mental health care.

My professional experience has primarily been in working with children and families. I have experience working with refugee and immigrant populations from all areas of the world, including but not limited to Central America, East Africa, and the Middle East. I have also worked in an advocacy role as well as a clinical role with survivors of sexual trauma. I have extensive experience in working with adolescents and youth. I continue to receive continuing education in order to stay updated on the best and most evidence based clinical practices and am currently pursuing increased training in DBT specific to working with adults and adolescents. I take a whole-family approach to treatment whenever possible.

I aspire to provide a safe and affirming place in the therapy office where clients can experience a balance of being validated and supported while also being challenged to grow and provided with new skills and mindsets. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, singing in a choral setting, traveling to new places and communities, and engaging in spiritual and religious practices that are meaningful to me.

Emergencies: If you are experiencing an emergency or if your need is of an urgent nature, please call 911 or go to your local hospital. Contacting me does not constitute a client therapist relationship unless you are a regular client who is being seen by me in my office.

Inform the 911 operator that this is a psychiatric emergency.

  • Ask for police officers and first responders trained in crisis intervention or trained to support people and families experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
